“Coaching is the most rewarding part of my job. I enjoy connecting with my associates and tailoring my coaching to their individual personalities. My department has really begun a notable change to our selling culture creating some great sales results (Up 35% to plan!)”

Do you have any My Macy’s success stories that you were a part of?
“The macys.com branch of the My Macy’s initiative, I would say, is the “search and send” effort on both the parts of the store associates and the merchant team here at macys.com. The area in which I work, Men’s Shoes, has a large percentage of its sales come from omnichannel—meaning we are basically providing merchandise for customers in stores who previously would not have had the same access. This way, customers win, and in turn, Macy’s wins as well. I admire the fact that Macy’s is always trying to innovate new ways to reach and satisfy the customer. I believe this makes the atmosphere at Macy’s one of growth, creativity, and opportunity.”
Winne Chan
Assistant Buyer, Macys.com
New York, NY
What is a typical day like for you?
“There is no typical day as is the case in many retail environments, but I am consistently analyzing my business through reports and using relationships with District Merchants and District Planners to make improvements or sustain growth, consistently analyzing my associates’ selling behaviors, coaching to improve them, and recognizing success, and meeting and exceeding the needs of our customers.”
Bernard Worthy
Sales Manager, Crabtree Valley Mall
Raleigh, North Carolina

What is My Macy’s?

How do you leverage the clout of a major corporation – and its renowned national brand name – yet still keep the flavor of each community it serves?

The answer is “My Macy’s” and it spells big opportunities for Macy’s associates at both the national and local levels.

My Macy’s is a company-wide strategy that focuses each store on the merchandise assortments, visual merchandising, service levels and special events that are right for its customers. By giving locally based executives the power to make more and better decisions, My Macy’s custom-tailors a store’s fit with its community to capture customer loyalty and market share while driving same store sales and profits.
